The Remembrance Day weekend always is a long weekend for our schools. So, I traditionally take the kids to Jason’s parents for the weekend. Often I go alone, because he doesn’t get any extra days off.
This year, he actually planned ahead and took the Monday off of work. So we were all set to go there early Saturday and return home Monday.
Then, my daughter had a band festival come up for Honor Band. She was to be gone Friday through Sunday.
OK, we take 2 vehicles and one of us comes back Sunday and one on Monday….
Then, my son’s High School football team made the city finals on Saturday evening. And they are playing his best friend’s High School. For the first time this year he has shown an interest in something at his school. He isn’t exactly Mr. Socialite.
So, I want to encourage him to participate in school stuff; and we also want to go away. I just decided if he wanted to go that bad then I needed to support him and let him go.
Now, Jason’s changing tires on his car so he can take the youngest 3 to his parents.
I am getting up WAY too early on a Saturday morning to drive to Canmore to see my daughter perform with her school Honor Band at the festival. They perform at 8 am!
Then in the evening I’ll take my son and his best friend to McMahon Stadium for the football game of St Francis vs Notre Dame. I hope he has a good time and that he realizes high school will be over before he knows it and he should make the most of this time!
Then Sunday afternoon at 3 pm I will get my daughter from school.
So, it isn’t at all the weekend I’d planned but I hope we get a lot done and it is meaningful time for my oldest 2 kids. I guess Katie will be a teenager in a few weeks; guess I should say “teens” instead of “kids”…they are growing up too fast! Grades 10 and 8……
Oh yeah…and I found a lost dog with no collar or ID. So we are caring for her too.
At least she gets on well with our dogs and our kids! The girls have named her Cinderella and are calling her Cinder. Goes with our dogs…Belle and Aurora. They are seriously hoping she doesn’t get claimed. Before I even got home tonight, they had convinced their dad to let them keep her if she isn’t claimed. He knew she was in the yard, because I’d emailed him a picture so he could make signs. They however were delighted to discover her in our yard when they got home.
We’ve put up posters with her picture around the area. We’ll (Kieran and I) probably put more up tomorrow…now we just wait and see if anyone claims her.
